Atalik was awarded a Bronze Medal in 1988 for best performance on Board one, he also won the gold medal for best performance or board one at the 1997 European Team championship.
On November 11, 2005 he married 22-year-old Women Grandmaster and Internal Master Ekaterina Polovnikova from Russia. Best ELO: 2620 in 2005.
