Russian Federation Alatortsev Vladimir Alekseevich (14.05.1909 - 13.01.1987)
Russian Grandmaster (emeritus-1983) and International Arbiter (1953). Engineer Hydraulic. Chairman of All-Union chess section 1954-1959, Chairman of the USSR Chess Federation 1959-1961. Coach of Vassily Smyslov in 1948. A chess journalist, the editor of chess column of the newspaper Vechernaya Moskva between 1943 and 1964. Main results: Leningrad Championship 1929, 3rd; 1931, 3rd; 1932, 2nd; in 1933-34, 1-2nd Moscow Championships 1936-37, 1-2nd, 1943-44, 1-2nd. In 1935, he drew a match with Lilienthal 6-6. in 1940, he lost to Levenfish 5½-8½. Historical ELO: 2480.
