Azerbaijan Mamedyarov Shakhriyar (12.04.1985)
Azerbaijani Grandmaster. Fourth best world ranked in 2007. World U20 Champion in 2003 and in 2005. World Boys U18 Champion in 2003. European Boys U18 Champion in 2002.

Best results: Baku Cup 2000, 1st; Azerbaijan U14 and U18 Championships 2000, 1st; European Boys U18 Championship 2000, 2nd-3rd; 1st at Azerbaijan; Azerbaijan Championship 2002, 1st-2nd; Lausanne Young Masters 2003, 2nd; Dubai Open 2004, 1st; Corus B 2005, 2nd; Lausanne Young Masters 2005, 3rd; Aeroflot Open Moscow 2006, 1st-4th; Reykjavik Open 2006, 1st-5th President CUP (AZE) 2006, 1st; Essent 2006, 1st-2nd; Essent 2007, 1st, Corsica Master 2008, 1st; Ordix Open (GER) 2009, 1st, President's Cup in Baku 2010, 1-2nd; Tal Memorial (RUS) 2010, 1-2nd.

In a match he drew with Ehsan Ghaem Maghami 3-3 in 2003, he beat Rustam Kasimdzhanov 5½-4½ in 2005 and Darmen Sadvakasov 3½-½ in 2006.

A participant in the Olympiads since 2000 and in the 2004 World Championship. A member of the national squad which won the gold medal at the 2009 European Team Championship and the bronze medal at the 2007 European Team Championship.

Mamedyarov' sisters Zeinab and Turkan are both Women Grandmasters. Best ELO: 2760 in 2008.
