United Kingdom Mackenzie Arthur Ford (06.10.1861 - 23.06.1905)
English chess composer born in Jamaica, the author of a row of volumes of chess problems. He has published more than 300 problems since 1880 and was awarded with 200 distinctions, including 45 first prizes (it was a record achievement for the end of the 19th century).

He was the author of the two- and three-movers, mostly, the last mainly with correct mates. In 1886 he became blind, and his problems which were composed from memory, are the best among his compositions.

The volume of the problems of 1905 served as the beginning of the “Christmas Series” of books on compositions.
