German composer born in Poland. Chess historian.
One of the founders of the New German (Logical) Chess Composition School. Kohtz used two pseudonyms: "Alfred Wiedemann" and "J. Kuck". The co-author with Carl Kockelkorn of the famous book «Das Indische Problem” (Potsdam, 1903).
