India Barua Dibyendu (27.10.1966)
Indian Grandmaster (1991), who has created a sensation by beating Viktor Korchnoi at 16 in London. He was the Champion thrice in the Indian zone in 1993, 1995 and 1999. The first Indian sports person to win a gold medal in the Olympiad. Indian Champion in 1983, 1998 and 2001. Best results:  London 1987, 1st; Bayswater 1989, 1st; Calcutta 1991, 1st; Ubeda  1998, 1st; Tata intl Open 2003, 1st; Mangalore Open 2008, 1st. A participant in the Olympiads from 1988 till 2000 and in the World Championships of 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2004. Best ElO: 2561 in 2003.
